“The Sticks” Feature Zone
A unique freestyle experience for those looking to improve or practice their balance and edge control in a friendly/inviting environment. This focus on progression means you will find more smaller features, but also a wide variety of medium and a few larger features. Features are clustered together and offer a wide variety of line choices. This space allows for users to easily connect with other riders and we encourage you to chat with our crew members if you have any questions or feedback for this ever evolving space.
LOCATION
The Feature Zone is located near the top of Chair ¾ in between Big Creek (beginner) and Sneaky Pete (intermediate) runs.
Coming from White Salmon Base Area the Feature Zone is accessed by taking Chair 7 to Chair 4.
Coming from the Heather Meadows Base Area the Feature Zone can be accessed directly by taking Chair 3.
FFZ ETIQUETTE & SAFETY INFO
Safety starts with good freestyle etiquette. This begins before you enter the feature zone by following the Mountain Responsibility Code. You, and only you, are responsible for successful use of the Feature Zone. Once in the zone follow safe use responsibility: Scouting, Starting, Spacing, Riding the Features, and Take it Easy. TIMBRRR! is a best trick contest and an ode to The Sticks’ humble beginnings when the zone was made up of only a few wooden features.
BRANCH OUT
FEMALES & FRIENDS MEET UP
The Branch Out Session is a gathering of female & friends freestylers in The Sticks, Mt. Baker Ski Area’s Freestyle Feature Zone located off of C-¾. There participants will enjoy an afternoon of freestyle riding and skiing together.
LAST STAND RAIL JAM
The Last Stand Rail Jam is a great way to end your season with style! Held in Mt. Baker's Feature Zone off C-3/4, this freestyle competition welcomes skiers and snowboarders of all levels—beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
