Ability Guidelines
Use these guidelines to self assess your skiing or snowboarding level. This will help you self select the appropriate lesson type for you and your family. Need help? Email us at [email protected]
ABILITY | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
1 | Never skied/snowboarded before or cannot yet stop on green (easiest) terrain. |
2 | Can slide and stop on green terrain. Working towards linking turns on green terrain. |
3 | Can link turns on green terrain. Working towards varying turn size and shape on green terrain. |
4 | Can vary turn size, shape, and speed on green terrain. Skiers are beginning to make parallel turns and use poles. Ready to explore blue (difficult) terrain. |
5 | Can control speed through turn size and shape on blue terrain. Skiers consistently make parallel turns and use poles. Working to refine skills on blue terrain. |
6 | Proficient at controlling turn size, shape, and speed on groomed blue terrain. Ready to explore ungroomed blue and groomed black (more difficult) terrain. |
7 | Can control speed through turn size and shape on groomed black terrain. Ready to explore steeper and/or ungroomed black terrain. |
8 | Working to refine proficiency in a variety of terrain and conditions, including black and/or double black (experts only) terrain. |
