Film Fest Submissions
The Mt. Baker Film Fest aims to highlight a wide variety of local and independent ski and snowboard filmmakers whose films promote the Mt. Baker community and connections within the wider world of mountain culture. If you are interested in submitting your film for consideration in this event, read through the following information.
SUBMISSION GUIDE
To better your chances of being selected, consider the following aspects to make your submission align with the setting and viewership of the Mt. Baker Film Fest.
RELEVANCE
The majority of the audience are Mt. Baker Season Passholders so submissions that focus on or are shot at Mt. Baker Ski Area and the surrounding area are of particular interest. Films that showcase local skiers and/or snowboarders exploring a mix of locations and Mt. Baker Ski Area are also well received.
LENGTH
Suggested runtime for your film submission is between 3 and 9 minutes in length including credits. Longer or shorter submissions may still be submitted, but the overall screen time is limited to 60 minutes per showing.
EXECUTION
Submissions by both professional and amateur filmmakers are encouraged. The presence of both creates a diverse representation of skiing, snowboarding, and personal experiences. Whether professional or amateur, the quality of and stylistic choices made during the editing process will make your submission stand out.
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR FILM
We aim to make submitting a film easy! Filmmakers may enter more than 1 film if they wish. The film can be from any season but must be your own work and be authorized for use by Mt. Baker Ski Area for this event.
COST
There is no cost associated with submitting your film and there are no charges incurred if your film is selected.
FORMAT
The following file formats play best on the projection equipment used at the show:
Acceptable formats are .MP4, .MOV
Suggested Codec’s Apple ProRes 422 for .MP4 or Avid DNxHD for .MOV
1920 x 1080 resolution 1080p/1080i
Ratio 16:9 (no vertical formats)
Best Audio 24-bit PCM .wav file at 48kHz

SELECTION PROCESS
Mt. Baker Ski Area, Inc. will make the final determination as to which films will or will not be shown at each showing of the Mt. Baker Film Fest. The goal will be to curate a show that is appropriate for the widest variety of our audience members.
DEADLINE
In order to be considered for the Film Fest your submission must be made by the deadline. The deadline for the 27th Annual Mt. Baker Film Fest is October 1, 2026.
REVIEW
Each submission will be reviewed to see how the film captures exciting ski or snowboard based action, tells a good story, and touches on aspects that are relevant to the audience.
CONFIRMATION
Once the review process is completed, filmmakers whose films have been chosen will be contacted 2 weeks in advance of the show.
DISQUALIFYING CONTENT
ILLICIT BEHAVIOR
The ski area is located within the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and is operated under a permit granted by the United States Forest Service. All applicable state and federal laws apply.
POLICY INFRACTIONS
Mt. Baker Ski Area, Inc. policies are not to be broken. Find policies HERE
POOR DECISION MAKING
Close calls caught on film where the alternative outcome could have been serious injury or death.
OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE
The event is open to all ages and therefore films need to be suitable for a general audience aka G-rated.
