Snow Safety Awareness & Introduction to Transceiver Use

This introductory snow safety course includes information and scenarios based on the local region of Mt. Baker and is meant to inspire further education of safe mountain recreation.

•What is known about avalanches? •Visual Study of case scenarios
•Ski area signage & what it means •Risk Management
•The Avalanche Triangle •Searches
•Gear  


This introductory class is for folks new to transceivers. You will receive a basic orientation to the technology and practice of transceiver use. We will also practice hands-on search scenarios to develop rescue skills.

Includes:

•Search Principles • Transceiver Operation • Tangent and/or grid System • Pinpoint

 

MUST BRING: If you can, please bring pack, transceiver, shovel and probe - otherwise you can check out ours. Morning session in classroom, afternoon session outdoors.  Dress appropriately.
